I have had the privilege of journeying with people as they have made significant changes in their lives. Over the past 25+ years of providing psychotherapy when individuals have come to me to effectively deal with mental health issues such as depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, panic and anxiety, addictions including alcohol, substances, pornography and gambling, relationship breakdowns and infidelity, family conflict and transgender issues. For some individuals, the lens of faith is an important one. Counselling through the lens of faith is an option; however, that will be determined by the client’s wishes.
I have a Doctoral Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (2008) from Wilfrid Laurier University and am an Addictions Specialist and Certified Clinical Supervisor with the Canadian Addiction Counselling Certification Federation. I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a Clinical Fellow of the Ontario Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist in Canada.
I have been trained in, teach and utilize a wide variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, Narrative, Strategic and Choice Therapy. This flexibility allows me to be responsive to my client’s needs without imposing only one or two types of therapy on them; yet, utilizing evidence based interventions to help them make a difference.
When life throws you a curve ball you need someone in your ballpark that can help you bat that ball out of the park. When it comes to curveballs from addiction, work, relationship issues or a trauma, I have a passion is to help you hit a home run so your life can get back on track. For 25+ years I has been helping people win over their addictions, work issues (including unemployment), relationship issues and traumatic events.
